The Mortician

Don't Resist a Change

The Pteetneet Cryptic Card 13

The mighty feared mortician

works with loved ones that we lost.

Usher souls to their next journey

with blood the only cost.

Upon that final gurney

no one will cheat death;

the mighty feared mortician

may watch your final breath.

Change is never easy,

no one wants to grieve,

as you move on

to your next life,

the mortician doesn’t leave.

    This speaks to me as a compelling song about some kind of psychopomp in a soulful, almost cold comfort way one might sing about a loved one. This loved one happens to be death. And that love is colored with a tinge of fear.

    What a dark and foreboding reminder of our own mortality. Nicely written.
