The Morning Chaos

I cherish waking up to the sweet sounds of my family, and treasure the peaceful silence that follows as they all bid me farewell and embark on their day.

“Mama, snuggle me”

an acrostic poem using the word 'SILENCE'.

Sleepiness rests in my body, hanging in the air.

Intimate kisses, a whisper, "Wake up, my love."

Little voices squeal with delight, "Love you, Mama."

Earnest outfit selections, "Mama, does this match?" "Will you braid my hair?"

News playing in the background, Adrienne Arsenal provides my daily updates.

Coffee: my second cup served to me in bed with cinnamon sugar on top.

Easing back into the comfort of my pillows as my family exits our back door enthusiastically, welcoming the silence needed to fuel my day.
