The Moon And Me

I dreamt I woke up on the moon

And sat upon its edge

Just To dangle my feet over

Off its shadowed dimpled ledge

No fishing pole or fallacies

Just me, and naked toes

To witness the whole galaxy

And just enjoy the show

The view from up above

Put all the other views to shame

I started counting all the stars

And gave each one of them a name

Dazzling Dora by the dipper

Caught my eye, right off the bat

And Jack, the rowdy ripper

From a nightmare that I had

Then there was Matt, the mighty meteor

That set my heart ablaze

It was like a brand new metaphor

That astonished and amazed

But the one that moved my soul

Were the stars there - in my eyes

As the sun awakened and aroused

My renewed love for sunny skies

Although the moon was so romantic

Nothing beats the summer bliss

And I knew that I was smitten

When the sun gave me a kiss

I awakened to the sunlight

Resting there, upon my face

I had never felt more alive

Than when I dreamt of outer space
