The Mirror

Stream of consciousness

By Karan w. Published about a year ago 1 min read

Whenever I stand in front of the mirror,

I see a person smiling again and again clearer

This feeling of belongingness is strange,

When I find myself in the thoughts of others.

As if I am just a reflection of their dreams,

Or just a character of their memories

What I search for is my face

Whose shadow resides in my eyes

Many thoughts come, a stranger meets me every day,

But why can't I see what is truly there?

A familiar face smiles and walks away every day,

But the person standing in front of the mirror, why can't I see him there?

A trippy creative and vivid exploration of consciousness. It is relatable too, this is the way I often feel. I am thinking, how is it that I can see them so clearly, yet when I look at myself I am further and further away. Even to type this now, I am feeling kind of strange, losing my grip on reality. I came back at around 9pm last night, and it didn’t even feel like I was walking or that i had complete control of my body. It was like I was in the back somewhere. Nice to see that I am not alone. Beautifully written Sk 👌🏽👏🏽

Wow, this one's got that deep, introspective vibe! The whole "reflection of their dreams" and "stranger meets me every day" is such a poetic take on identity and self-perception. That yearning to truly see yourself—so relatable yet hauntingly profound. Loved it!✨😊👏

That is deep, for real! What made you think like that? The emptiness of the person glancing into the mirror seems like it needs to find reflection-- The reflection that's his own! I loved the concept. I'm sure you're writing so much more and a lot new experiences day by day ✨👏 I love this poem, it makes us think about what we are. Are we, too, just a reflection of other's priorities or are we what we want us to be 🙌 Great Job! 💖
