The Mirror

A Poem

Fiends glued to their screens

Watching dreams drip from the flesh

Seeing what’s left

When the ravenous of have taken all

Towers fall as we crawl on our bellies

Demons welling with lies in their cheeks

A bleak future

Drowning in an earthbound sun

Archons aggregating our lives and deaths

Lines of disagreement drawn across our souls

Taking their toll

The only animals that cage themselves

Losing our health

To the accumulation of wealth we’ll never use

Locked in a cycle of abuse

Waiting for something or someone to let us loose
