The Miracle Aligner

Inspired by a song written by the Last Shadow Puppets as well as the color "gold".

There’s a world upstairs made of silk and dust,

Of cosmic things and wanderlust,

With honey dipped dreams and morning dew,

And beyond the stars and celestial view,

Lies the Miracle Aligner and its gold compass too

Come along, sweet child, come this way

It’s got plenty enough to share today.

What you may ask? Miracles of course!

Bright ones and light ones and much much more.

So pick up your feet but don’t offend our lord

It’s about time for you to claim your reward.

You see, the Miracle Aligner uses a gold compass

To balance the fate of any two living things

Things with eight arms or things with a few.

Tall things and small things and slimy things too,

Things that can fly, and things that are blue.

If it moves with hind legs or lacks a clue

The Miracle Aligner has a plan,

And that plan includes you!

Suppose your miracle was wild and large.

Suppose your miracle puts you in charge,

Perhaps you become king and a wealthy mogul

Or maybe you discover the rarest of rare crystals

Each Miracle is unique and carefully made for that person

But conditions require that another one’s life is made worsen.

You see, a miracle is much like an inverted dream,

Senseless at times and not what it seem,

All of our fates are intrinsically tied to each other

Like little bound molecules inside of a beaker

Cruel to one thing but kind to another

That is the magic of the Miracle Aligner.

Miracles aren’t free so please learn from this lesson

For the compass points in two contrasting directions,

For one, a miracle is given while for another it is taken.

If you knew this, would you still accept my offer?

After all, aren’t some people born to be winners,

While the rest of us are all born to suffer?
