[The Migration of Glam Rock During the Fertilization Period of Rock and Roll]

Poem

By Kyle SchlicherPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

the migration of glam rock spermatozoa

during the fertilization

period of rock & roll.

it's a short, arduous trek into

a vast unknown area

of notes, scales,

bass beats

and primal screaming.

black delta blues, rockabilly,

chess records &

the memphis scene.

ducktails, sideburns,

blue jeans fashionable

after years of scorn.

the philly sound moves in.

then comes the british tsunami

of guitars, guitars & more guitars!

the motion sound elbows its way

into the crowded room.

sex, drugs, sex & music.

the stage was set.

what next?

glam rock prances onto the stage.

make up, glitter, hairspray, skintight sequined outfits

complete with new lyrics and music.

searing guitar riffs!

they stole the spotlight.

so pretty & pious playing to an appreciative audience.

like being on a first date.

the celebration is short-lived.

the nasties had arrived.

mean, vicious, snarling discontented lyrics

while spitting &

throwing up on the stage.

the punk scene had smashed its way into the room.

skin pierced, tattoos & attitude.

mucho attitude!

they made their own room, forcing their will

onto the stage.

and the evolution continues onward today.

but, the glamour kings & queens brave

were the

bravest at heart & shining

like the north star on a zero degree night!

how they swam against the current!
