The Means Were Never Satisfied

and the ends never justified

I lift the pen and all colour drains.

The reason I and nameless others

postpone coming until conditions are dire.

The momentous technological grandeur of the 21st century:

• Impoverished souls

• Extensive IT capacities

Can’t get back to basics if we tried.

No one knows how.

Patience a slow meandering road full of scent and scene

that leads to still sweet streams of past pure self.

But everyone wants convenience.

Bottled water and shortcuts to salvation.

External enemies are phantoms.

Saboteurs rise within

without preliminary security checks.

Strategies or surprise equivalent to obsolescence.

I seize a book and find my place

where the main character gets to decide.

Synonymous with a real life ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ series.

Awareness of every nuance and ravenous for optimism.

For roots of justice untainted by projected economic growth.

For all that truly matters

and all that’s worth our tears.
