The Man In The Moon, Wears A Velvety Smile

In the still of the morning, just before the alarm,

I steal away to look at the moon.

To see if by chance, he granted the wishes,

I sang to the stars, out of tune.

Sitting there, in my chair, wrapped in my favorite robe,

I look out, there he is, looking back.

That old man in the moon, with a wink in his eye

giving cheer to his favorite sad-sack.

He shines down on me, with that velvety smile,

each beam grander than the one before.

Like the sea, he pulls me, bringing me peace,

giving calm, to my dwindling shores

Reassuring me, that it's me that he sees

and he's come, with his touch, to restore.

I can see new ways, in the path that he shows

there's no need to wander alone, anymore.

Taking away all the lonely I feel,

in the dusk, just before the sun rises

Filling me up with an unspeakable joy

till we meet here together, tonight
