the magical things in a mundane life
a poem
When you look up and our eyes meet
I swear time stops for a moment
When you smile at me and your face lights up like a Christmas tree
I hope you never stop smiling
When you press close to me as we draw stick figures on the foggy window
I miss your presence the moment you move away
When you say my name
I could listen to that sound a thousand times over
When you lean against the doorway and bid me farewell
I wish I never had to leave
When you lay your head on my shoulder
I want you to stay there forever
When you run a hand through your curls
I swear I’ve never fallen for you harder
When you give a whisper of a kiss and the softest of exhales on my cheek
I feel my heart skip a beat
When you hold my gaze for a second longer than you normally do
I find myself getting lost in the storms in your eyes
When you wrap your arms around me
I want you to never let go
When you intertwine your fingers through mine
I swear I can feel your heartbeat in my hands
When you fall asleep beside me, your arms around my waist
I know this is where I belong
When you go dancing in the moonlight
I want to capture you like this forever
And when we swear our love for each other
I see a map of our life together
And it’s perfect
