Golden brown waves

Messy but intricate, each strand perfectly placed

A crown sitting neatly atop his head

His presence a magnetic pull I did not fight

I drank him in as I felt my lungs take in my first breath

*~*

Steady blue eyes the colour of glass

A stark contrast to the black and grey that wrapped around his body

Ice that did not sting when his gaze slid over to me

As he introduced himself

And the sound on his lips was a drink I longed to take another sip from

*~*

A warm hand in mine

And a smile from the eyes that drew me in

I became the water his eyes so reflected

But his hand left mine too soon

And I found myself aching for the puzzle piece I had so briefly found

*~*

A breath caught in my chest

As he tipped his hat to me and bid me farewell

And I found myself asking him to stay for just an eternity longer

But he stepped out into the dark too soon

Leaving me with nothing but a whisper of a future I could only dream of

sad poetry
