The lovely tipsy alien

The night a light appeared in the sky, and I found a friend.

Deep within my besotted and slumbering dream

Where butterflies floated in splendid colors of green

I heard a distant droning, screeching and whirring

Sounding deep within my mind was an unusual stirring

Inebriated and with whisky breath pointedly offending

My eyes opened, hoping t'was only the sky pretending

Within the car I mumbling-ly, drunkenly slumbered

All my troubles hoping to be totally dis-remembered

Then came a crash, blinding lights and fireworks?

I staggered to the great big crater as the ground dirked and jerked

Three lovely creatures emerged from the strange round fiery object

Rapidly I blinked, trying to make sense of this unusual subject

Three ships from space, my eyes completely unfocused

Nope, they merge into one. One ship and one lovely 'hocus pocus'

For surely, I was still in the car drunk dreaming

Hands reached out and grabbed my bottle...No! Me screaming

Too late, the lovely thing, thinking it be water or some quencher

Gulped down the burning, stinging liquid, seeking needed drencher

Flinging the bottle far into the night...she yelled bloody murder

It flew so far, no way it could have made it any further

Luckily there were tons of bottled water

Which I offered with much unwise laughter

I ante-ed up some to save me from the alien blaster

Pointed squarely at my giddy mirthful face

What a way to greet a visiting race

Laughter and alcohol, I felt I needed to atone

So tomorrow, I will buy her an earth phone

And introduce her to our wonderful earthly home

Ocean, art, music, food, dancing and the wonders of our diversity

She smiles at my offer, looking forward to sharing the earth's mystery

Now we both sit on the hood of the faithful car

Wistfully pondering the beauty and splendor of the stars

She reached out a pretty finger, touched my throbbing temple

All my cares evaporated in one moment of clear dissemble

I laid my body back against the cool glass feeling rejuvenated

I felt freed from all my earthly cares, no room for discourse debated

We rested quietly for a very long time betwixt dream and reality

And then we spoke of our world and ones beyond our gravity

Friendship is the first thing that I hope to share

And to convince her that on our planet, there is much to spare!

Nice one, Novel. Great poem and that lead photo is awesome.

  • Good thing you had those bottles of water before she "whisked-ye" away to an alien tribunal for assaulting her taste buds with such fire. Very nice sentiment in a very nice poem, my friend.
