The Love That Refused to Die
When hearts still whisper even after goodbye.

A tender free-verse poem about love that lingers beyond distance and time — where every whispered memory becomes a prayer for one more chance.
What if I told you,
that every night,
the stars whisper your name before they burn out?
That the moon hides behind clouds
because it can’t bear to watch me miss you again.
What if I told you,
that the scent of rain
still feels like the echo of your laughter,
and every quiet morning
reminds me of the way you used to breathe beside me —
soft, careless, alive.

I never told you
how I memorized your silence,
how even your distance
became a language I learned by heart.
And when the world grew colder,
I found warmth in the memory of your hands,
still tracing constellations in my mind
that lead nowhere but back to you.
What if I told you,
that I don’t believe endings are real?
That love doesn’t stop —
it just changes shape,
turns into a voice carried by wind,
a ghost that hums in the back of a song,
a dream that refuses to fade.
If I told you all this,
would you come back?
Would you listen,
just once more,
before the sky forgets how to hold the moon?
Because somewhere between goodbye and forever,
I’m still standing —
still whispering your name,
hoping the universe
will tell you what I can’t.
Love doesn’t always end when people part — sometimes, it lives quietly in memories, in poems, and in the spaces between words.
