The love in mother's voice has transferred to mine.

When I speak I hear her

Reminding me she is always with me.

Always a part of my story.

The love in my father's eyes follow me.

Piercing through the mirror reminding me I am beautiful and my beauty is deeper than my melanin.

Always a part of my story.

Broken into fragments of who I have become

Fragments of who my children are.

The love is carried like DNA

Passed down

Redefined

Reinvented

Each year

Each generation

The love my family brings resonates on days I'm married to the bed.

When the sheets are too heavy to lift off my frame.

This love tells a story I never imagined living

But I'm living

And that is also love.

The love I embody is a story

A river of truth

This love is rich and passed down

It is ancestral

The love I seek is all the love I've ever known

All the love I've found in me.
