The Longest Mile I will walk
It will lead me to my truth

The Longest Mile I will walk
The longest mile is just the same as the shortest,
though it never feels that way,
when the night grows heavy on the shoulders,
and the road is quiet as a grave.
I walk through hours that refuse to pass,
as time stands still in the frozen air,
and shadows follow with a lifeless grace,
like secrets no one wants to share.
But morning comes with softer steps,
and suddenly the path seems small,
a simple breath can change the world,
and hope can rise where darkness falls.
Life will break and life will mend,
a circle turning day by day,
one mile drags the spirit down,
the next can guide the heart its way.
So I carry on through shifting seasons,
past memories I cannot tame,
each step a vow that I am living,
for no two miles are quite the same.
And when I reach the final turning,
with nothing left to fear or hide,
I will rest where peace is waiting,
and know I lived the longest stride.
