The little Leaf

Rise

I watched the crippled leaf crumble

falling, falling to a state of humble.

It thought It'll live after letting go,

But, it didn't realize that it didn't know.

*

Letting go is sometimes a source of life.

But, at times it's only a result of strife.

A symbol of surrender, of capitulation.

An urge to run from the humiliation.

*

A pain-instilled desire to lose its dignity.

A blood-blinded desperation to gain immunity.

It's easier to ignore the parts gone rotten.

And then, casually forgot that you've ever forgotten.

*

It's a nice excuse to say you're "letting go"

And convince yourself of nice reasons for doing so.

And only when you've hit lower than humanity,

will you perhaps remember that you once lost your sanity.

*

So, as I tell the little leaf my goodbye,

I fell a moisture in the corner of my eye.

For I know that pain will take him by surprise,

But unlike, leaves, We can still rise!

*

So I send my gaze away from where it's fallen low

for I know that in the spring, a fresh one will grow!
