The Liminal Space

The In-between

What is it about the space between consciousness and sleep?

Does it hold all the secrets you are meant to keep?

Why is the fall from the world so steep?

Slipping into a slumber so deep,

To take a faithful leap,

Into the thoughts that linger and creep.

Infiltrating, they continue to seep.

The benefits you will reap,

No more dust for your mind to sweep.

No more counting sheep,

Or the clothes piled in a messy heap.

You rise at the sound of a beep,

Or the rumble of a Jeep.

You wake with no more tears to weep.

But a peaceful night doesn't always come cheap.

How the brain makes such noise without a peep.
