The Last Evening

Pain

By Zakir UllahPublished 7 months ago 1 min read

Of the lively season of spring, this is the last evening.

Of the verses on my lips, today marks the last one.

Of the pen in my hands, today is the last evening.

In my arms, my beloved enjoys her last evening.

Every evening I give respite to myself—

Is that of the pain, this is the last evening.

Of your promises, this is the last evening.

O zakir people mourn just for three days—

Of the mourning and grief, this shall be the last evening.

In my arms, my beloved enjoys her last evening.
