The Last Embrace

The memory that won't fade

In the lonely black depths of my mind,

I feel your light intertwined.

Escaping the pain within,

Wondering where you have been.

As my dream becomes a reality,

I open my eyes, finally feeling free.

Our gaze locked as our lips separate,

Your smile increases my heart rate.

My arms wrapped around you,

Your warm embrace breaks through.

Feeding my soul,

My empty heart becomes whole.

In your neck I burrow,

My breathing is no longer narrow.

As we finally say goodbye,

Little did I know the end was nigh.

Through our grasp you slipped away,

Not knowing the end was today.

Left in the grey of our last embrace,

Dropped back into my dark headspace.

The memory of that night,

I would never want to rewrite.

My soul torn,

I feel left to mourn.

Sinking back into my deepest low,

I’m at the very depths of woe.

Glancing at you from afar,

Wondering how you are.

I hold onto hope,

As I try to cope.

Yearning for love,

That I have always dreamed of.

Hoping the stars will align,

So one day, you will be mine.
