The Lake

Inspired in South Lake Tahoe

By N MPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

The piney green trees melt into the sky.

Here I am thinking about you and I.

I watch the blue waves as they meet the land,

Which paints the whole beach, the golden brown sand.

I look to the sun, it’s pulling me in,

And starts dragging my soul out from within.

As my hands sink deeper, further in gold,

The warmth on my face begins to turn cold.

Ripples from the lake reflect in my mind,

My soul sinks back in, I feel so confined.

My moment of freedom, bliss, it escapes.

Now on my shoulders, this treacherous weight.

Held prisoner in her own mind, she was.

Desperate for light and hope from above.

But when a short glimpse finally came through,

It all shattered down with one thought of you.

Can’t wait to finally free from these chains,

Take back control of my wandering brain.

When you pass through for the very last time,

At last, I’ll be able to reclaim mine.
