The Knight

Excerpts from a book I'll never get around to writing

By Nicole MatejaPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

There I was, young with the promises of the world at my feet. But along you came, with blazing eyes and that smile that could hide so many secrets. And I was lost in you, possessed by a person I no longer recognized. And when you left I was unimaginably broken and drained, fleeing from anything even resembling feelings. I thought I would never heal but in my marathon I found me. And in this battlefield I found a warrior. She has fought many battles since and raises her sword anew each day. She fights, even when she is unsure what she is fighting for and when the days draw end she cries her battle cries until she is reawakened by her dreams. Unbroken she will always find a way to win the war. And in you there was no knight, merely a prawn in tin foil wielding whatever you managed to steal from another.
