The Kitten and The Manticore

Poem

By Ocean MyrandaPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Soft, sweet, innocent little thing

Still has claws and teeth that sting

But don’t be fooled by the small appearance

There is something fierce within those eyes

Playful, adorable, gentle ball of fur

Can’t seem to control those claws of hers

Something lurks beneath the surface

She grows to her full size

Coarse, firm, intimidating creature

Strong claws and wings, but her favorite feature

The thing that most don’t notice

That scorpion tail with the poisonous sting

That small adorable kitten is no longer here

In her place, a giant manticore appears

Don’t be fooled by the gentle eyes

She won’t hesitate to show you why
