The King’s Dream
A poem for Dr. Martin Luther King jr.
The King’s dream. He had a vision of the world connected as one community. You and me bonded by unity.
The King’s dream. He put his life on the line for all his people so that we would be treated equal.
The King fought against a hatred filled beast, but didn’t have to lift a finger and his weapon was peace.
The King had an army ready to fight. An army that beat darkness with the spirit of light.
The King had words which spoke life into the world. Knowing the boys and girls are the earth’s most precious pearls.
The King’s will brought people together because he knew our oneness is what made the world better.
The King looked at a world filled with strife and sought to beat it even at the expense of his life.
The King was up against all odds, but never faltered. Instead, he stayed on his hands and knees at the alter.
The King always had faith in the man up above and knew that hatred would be conquered with love.
The King’s dream is the one we should live. One with open arms and hearts forever ready to give.
