The Key
Finding Love from Within
For so long I have sought, the key to break this lock
Always searching as the clock goes tick and then goes tock
But I have not found that which I seek
A love so earnest, in a world so bleak
~
But when will I find my true love?
I’m pining and hoping it will be sent from above
Life it seems though has different plans
Will I be with a woman or with a man?
~
So much confusion, so much to consider
What must I do to make love come hither?
And yet I must accept with much grace
That I have not yet found my will or my place
~
But that is okay, because I am fine
I know in my heart, I will find love divine
Because I’m aware, with my heart beating fast
And my desire laid bare, and a longing that won’t pass
~
That love must start with a love from within
A wellspring of passion, from self-love it begins
I approach Valentines with a heart feeling free
I rest assured in my heart lies the key

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
