Watching from the ship as it drifted away from the land was the strangest feeling
This decision tore at her and she had to do everything from throwing herself overboard and swimming back to the place she was comfortable.
The very place that warmed her, that caressed her
But she knew she couldn't
The reassurance that came from the pain that mellowed in her heart allowed a tear to escape from her eye
The land became smaller as she drifted further away
This was it
It was too late now
She would always remember what made this land so special
How it moved her and loved her, how it allowed her to experience some of her most primal fantasies and wants
But she would also know that it was just an island of dreams, for once the mist swallowed it whole there was no coming back
That was the thing
If you stayed there for too long you would give too much of yourself for a farce
Nothing was real there, it was a spell. A hypnotizing flirt with your dreams.
There was no way the island could sustain you as much as she beckoned it to.
It didn’t know how and she had lost her voice begging
The cold wind of change stung her cheeks as she allowed one final tear drop to escape
She would always have those memories, the pain couldn’t take that away…
