The Investigation

Determining the inner truth

By Obey G. GensehPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

With a controlled, methodical demeanor, her actions were deliberate, intentional, and purposeful—far from the recklessness of a typical crash, this was a cold-blooded act of murder. Emily Gallagher wept uncontrollably as the judge pronounced her guilty on multiple counts of murder, linked to the deaths of her boyfriend, Lucas Mitchell, and his Ethan Harper. She was found guilty on all twelve charges, including felonious assault and aggravated vehicular homicide. Gallagher's mission was executed with chilling precision. The judge remarked that Gallagher, who was 17 at the time of the incident, transformed from a responsible driver with passengers into a harbinger of destruction. She sped down an unfamiliar route, one she had traversed just days before, and then floored the accelerator, reaching speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. There was no denying her intent, as the evidence clearly showed an utter lack of effort to slow down or stop. The outcome was a tragic loss of two lives.

The prosecution argued that Gallagher deliberately crashed the car in July 2022 to sever her toxic and tumultuous relationship with Mitchell. They characterized Harper as nothing more than an unwitting passenger in the backseat. Harper's mother echoed this perspective, expressing gratitude that justice had been served today. The pain of missing their son is a constant ache, and while justice has been met for him, it is evident that there are no winners in this heart-wrenching saga. Today, no one emerges as victorious, only burdened by sorrow.
