The House Fire

A surreal poem

I dream of drowning

And maybe I've said it before

But the harsh waves

Do something to the deathwish

Curdling inside me.

.

I am violently hungry

With the desire to rip my bones

Open for the world to see

The secrets I hide in my marrow.

I know I'll starve.

.

There is no market,

Not for the masochistic suffering

My thoughts crave.

I'd try to sleep it off like a drug but

I can taste blood.

.

It's too sweet for my taste.

I like the bitter things, tears and rage,

Fear and force and fire.

But you don't taste acrid like smoke

And I think I hate it.

Ouch... that left me with a knot in my gut and feeling raw. I love the intensity and relatability of this SD!! My favourite lines were: I like the bitter things, tears and rage, Fear and force and fire.

  • Whoaaaa, this was so intense and raw. I freaking loved it!
