The Hollow Throne

A Kingdom of Shadows, Where Terror Waits and Souls Decay

At the edge of night, where shadows choke,

Where light is thin as a dying smoke,

There waits a throne of splintered bone,

A realm of rot, a place unknown.

-

The air hangs thick, a sickly weight,

A scent of blood, of death’s estate;

Where trees themselves bend down to die,

And claw the ground with bony sighs.

-

Each path is twisted, lost and cold,

The ground itself is foul and old,

With bloodstains dark from ages past—

A place where hope can never last.

-

And on that throne, a shape is sprawled,

A ghastly king in shadows walled;

His crown, a spine still slick with red,

A garland plucked from souls long dead.

-

His face, a mask of grinning fear,

Eyes empty pits that see and leer,

A gaze so deep, so black and wide,

It swallows all who dare abide.

-

His voice is thick as plague-filled night,

A breath that kills all spark of light.

It fills the air, a poisoned song,

That draws you close, where you don’t belong.

-

“Come near, come near,” he whispers low,

And like a moth, you start to go.

Your feet betray, your body fails,

Drawn to him on ghostly trails.

-

The trees around you close their jaws,

Their branches claw with brittle claws.

And as you walk, you feel the weight

Of countless souls he’s sealed to fate.

-

Your pulse slows down, your skin turns gray,

As time itself begins to fray.

The stars blink out, the moon decays,

All warmth in you begins to fade.

-

You try to scream, but words die cold,

Your mouth is filled with dirt and mold.

The ground becomes a swallowing maw,

An endless pit, a devil’s draw.

-

Your skin pulls tight, your breath turns thin,

A hollow ache begins within.

And on the throne, his smile grows wide,

As terror spreads from side to side.

-

The very night consumes you whole,

As shadows claw and swallow soul.

And then you feel him, deep and raw,

A presence cold as death’s own law.

-

For once you reach the Hollow Throne,

You’ll rot, decay—and die alone.

-

Your bones will join his haunted seat,

Your mind, a ghost that knows defeat.

And every wanderer that draws near

Will hear your cries—eternal fear.

-

For none escape his timeless reign,

And all that’s left is endless pain.

So heed this tale, and run from here,

Or join the Hollow Throne’s veneer.

    This poem is truly remarkable!👏👏

  • This piece explores the intricate themes of power, loss, and the emptiness that can accompany greatness. I wanted to delve into the emotional landscape of characters who grapple with their ambitions and the consequences that follow. In crafting this poem, I aimed to create a vivid imagery that reflects the weight of a throne that, while seemingly magnificent, can also be hollow and isolating. I hope it resonates with you and invites you to reflect on the complexities of ambition and the human experience. Your thoughts and feedback are always welcome—thank you for your support! Warm regards, Jason
