There it is.
The hole.
Big enough to fit your head in
If only one dared to look into the pit of darkness
The darkness that not only slept in the hole
But roamed throughout the walls of the house
Not even the ivory walls can hide the black that lurks within.
I press my ear against the wall
My fingertips embracing the wall
The wall leaving small dents of circles upon my palm.
I listen closely
The house knows of many secrets
If asked nicely it’ll give you what you seek
Listen, and you'll hear the screams of the little children
You'll hear the exact moment the hand,of the mother, breaks when it meets the wall
The cracking of the wall falling within itself
Pieces of ivory crashing to the floor.
And when all subsides
You’ll hear whimpering slowly turning into huge sobs.
Though it's not the children you hear weeping.
It's the house.
Who has to hold this darkness within.
Trapped with all these secrets.
What was once built to keep children warm and safe from storms
Is now only a prison for children
And their unheard screams.
