The Heart's Burden

Love, Lost and Longing

The weight of love is heavy,

A burden on my heart,

For though I loved so deeply,

We were destined to be apart.

The nights were filled with laughter,

And the days with endless joy,

But now I'm left with memories,

Of a love that I can't deploy.

The world keeps spinning round and round,

But my heart still aches with pain,

For all the love that we once shared,

Will never be the same again.

I know I need to move on,

And let the past be the past,

But the thought of life without you,

Is a shadow that will forever cast.

So here I am, left with nothing,

But a heart that's heavy and torn,

For though I loved you with all my being,

Our love was never meant to be reborn.
