The hardest things I won't ever get to say

When the sands of time run out, make sure it's all been said.

By D-DonohoePublished 6 months ago 1 min read

I stood there in front of your friends and family

I talked about your life.

Your childhood, how you met Mom.

We talked about your motorbikes, and your work.

I told stories of your adventures.

But I couldn’t say that I wish we’d been closer.

Or that I was going to call you the night before your accident,

But I didn’t call.

Maybe I would have said you sounded out of breath.

I might have said that I appreciated the work you were doing for me.

Perhaps once in our life I would tell you I loved you.

People tell me that you know,

But that requires faith, and I don’t know if I have any left.

I would tell you those things if I could.

Instead, I just stand in front of your friends and family,

Talking about your life.
