The Green Thread
Day 18/30: A series where I write a poem every single day for 30 days.

They say when life gives you Lemons, make lemonade
What to do when it gives you troubles in every shade?
Oh, well! I know what to do, I've known it for years
To rest my head on a friend, the one who bears
She won't ask me the reason, she'd hear everything, every sigh
She'll be there for me, I know, and she won't ask me why!
We tied a thread, to our wrists, a green one
A sign of our friendship, that compared to none!
She hears me, my stories, whatever I romanticise
She doesn't call me out, she doesn't lecture me to be wise
At times, life's already throwing at you, ache
You need a friend, in front of whom you never fake
The one who listens to you and your life
The one who offers you love, when life's offering a knife
We thought we'd never break our thread, or lose
But, sadly, we did, and it wasn't us, it became loose
Yet, we saw our friendship, being even stronger than before
That thread told us, it's not in something that you wore
We learned that our friendship had tied a green thread on our heart
And that place was unreachable, unable to tear it apart!
She's my best friend, my healer, my cousin, and my fool
She warms me like the sun, like a blanket made of wool
.
A/N:
Her name's Mahnoor. She's my comfort place, and someone I can talk with everything about, without the fear of being judged. Love you, my girl! <3
