I made a big mistake leaving

The Grass Just Was Not Greener

He spoke like summer, smooth and warm

promised me no coming storm

said he never broke a vow

I believed him, then, somehow

New touch, new tune, new painted grin

easy lies wrapped tight in skin

said he’d never look away

but love like his begins to fray

He wore his past in hidden threads

a smirk, a shrug, the things unsaid

soft with charm but sharp beneath

the kind that smiles and slowly cheats

I thought I’d found a clearer sky

a better kiss, a brighter high

but even roses rot unseen

not every field is fresh and green

He wasn’t better, just unknown

the same cold hands beneath new tone

a different face, the same old play

and I regret I didn’t stay

So let them chase the glittered thrill

I’ve learned the cost, I’ve felt the chill

new doesn’t mean it’s true or kind

the grass looks green when love goes blind

I guess we all make these mistakes at some point in our lives. Regret is such a painful emotion, especially when it is linked to hindsight.

One must experience things to know what to do and lessons will be learned. Good job.
