A beautiful fair maiden, wielding arrows and bow,
Shares her one rare story of love and woe.
She leads a powerful group, that favours no male,
After a tragic end to this mythical tale.
An incredible hunter, she was known to be,
Artemis was approached by a Giant at sea.
She let him in, and they hunted for years,
Triumphant and successful among their peers.
Riddled with jealousy, Apollo, her brother,
Tricked his twin sister into killing her lover.
A contest of hunters, to see who is best,
Shoot that rock in the distance and put it to rest.
Goddess of the hunt, Artemis made no mistake,
Her arrow flew true, across the large lake.
She wasn't aware that the target selected,
Was Orion's head, and his life had now ended.
Orion the Giant, had lived his last day,
Becoming the unintended hunters prey.
Mourning her loss, with the grief and guilt that she felt,
Artemis created the constellation; Orion's belt.

I currently work as a thatcher, but love the art of writing a narrative, currently I am working on putting my ideas onto paper and creating a book. In the meantime I create short stories to keep myself, fiancée and two dogs entertained.
