The Girl Who Was the Moon

"She is the one who dots the night sky with her velveteen white and her eyes behold marvelous columns of light."

By Lexi EhrmanPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

She sends down her light in beams, she dreams

to glow like her sister, Sun

who lets her warmth pour down and run to Earth,

dancing with each mornings birth, clothed in

the rainbow sky; Moon cries

watching the Sun from afar, never realizing

her own body surrounded by stars; she is too

concerned with her sister Sun, not noticing

that she is the one who dots the night sky

with her velveteen white and her eyes behold

marvelous columns of light.

While sun dresses gardens and grasses

with gold, Moon sits on her sky throne

stirring the water in the mighty Atlantic

fashioning a world more romantic with her

celestial beams, eyes gleam in her light.

So while Sun veils each smiling Earth face,

Moon watches from outer space, finally

knowing that she is not the Suns shadow-

She is the Moon.
