She pulled up next to me, greeted and smiled.
One look at her left me beguiled.
I've had lots of regulars, haven't met her before.
I think of how to approach, I just walked up to her door.
I ask from where she come,
and is traveling anything but fun.
Living life free, on the road without care.
Her and the horizon, without a burden to bare.
She tells me her story, I'm put in a trance.
I've never experienced this new romance.
I asked if later she would be free.
"If you aren't doing anything, i get off at three."
"I guess I can stay, for a little while.
There's a truck stop nearby, it's less than a mile.
We meet up late, I take her to dinner.
She is upbeat with spirit, and has a joy within her.
She asked if I ever thought of life on the road.
I tell her never, I am not so bold.
She continues to speak, I'm hung on every word.
Our eyes are locked, everything else blurred.
We continue our night with verbal passion.
We kept it friendly, we are a little old-fashion.
She tells me its time for her to go.
I wonder if I'll see her again, I hope so.
We have a moment before she drives into the night.
I share my thoughts, tell her she was a delight.
She hopped into her rig and waved goodbye.
I waved right back, but let out a sigh.
I'm sadden to see this come to an end.
A least I took some time to make a new friend.
I hear a horn, I'm startled and spin.
The truck driving girl smiles and says get in.
My heart grows bigger, it gave an inner glee.
It seems it's my time to live life free.
As we travel together, site by site,
something about it just feels right.
So if you need inspiration, you can try your luck.
To give a friendly hello, to the girl in the truck.
