The Gift

A new life poem

My kidneys fail.

Fatigue becomes my shadow.

Then—

a call.

A life lost, so mine could begin again.

In the hush of the transplant ward,

grief and grace meet.

This new kidney hums within me,

a quiet anthem of survival.

A stranger’s gift.

An angel saved me.

I live because they don't.

This strength—

a monument to their passing.
