The Gift from Tribulations
Sestina for Nonchalant Advantage

Faith is tested per time at each tribulation.
After half a century, one applies adaptation.
Though the ghosts of Christmas past may haunt,
A new worn attitude is comfortably nonchalant.
My spirit, mind, soul, eyes, ears, and heart
Have accepted the guiltless art of the smart.
Intelligent intellectuals often semanticize smart.
As if an individual could earn nothing for each tribulation.
Yet those who have healed from crowns or a broken heart
Know the value and wisdom of change and adaptation.
Though Yes is a lovely note, my No is Nonchalant.
Let it serve as a reminder - my indignation shall haunt.
I may still call on ghosts of the past if they also haunt --
But persuasion has changed for the art of the smart.
The gifts received from God and Love were not nonchalant;
Full stomach, blooming roses, silent nights - no tribulation --
Though loneliness and physical pain required adaptation.
Now I am blessed with a stronger, wiser, unbroken heart.
Love, Tradition, Family, Obligation are matters of the heart.
Most of those ties are vanquished, though my mind they haunt.
My faith tested, and doubts occurred at every adaptation,
To finally gain the advantage of the art of the smart.
No bitter, sweet, sour, or salt taste of any tribulation
Owns the entire transformation of the sprouted nonchalant.
I shall keep my invisible cloak of pride in well-earned nonchalant.
It took six years of misery and mountains to heal my broken heart.
This Christmas, all alone with agonizing back pain, my tribulation --
Yet God and Jesus spoke to me and the Word did haunt.
To finally gain advantage of the art of the smart,
My faith tested, and doubts occurred at every adaptation.
Money and Sex spent much of my time striving for adaptation.
Normal and Typical human behavior led to anger, not nonchalant.
To finally gain advantage of the art of the smart,
It took six years of misery and mountains to heal my broken heart.
No guilt or manipulation can press on me like a nagging haunt,
I suffered alone, found my own relief and joy and owned my tribulation.
My adaptation gift was blessed upon me for a faithful heart.
If my nonchalant attitude displeases you, tend to your own haunt.
Neither intelligence or the art of smart were blamed for tribulation.
