the garden

a sensory poem

slosh and plunk

in the watering tin

squelch of wellies

sinking in

white jewel sun

glints overhead

diamond showers

on the soil bed

breeze carries

the nip of roses

earth turns sweetly

under noses

thumb-sized carrot

cracked over teeth

bursting sugar

notes of peat

scraped knee soothed

on shadowed ground

chilled fingers deep

in earth abound

nature poetry
