The Gambling Game Called Love

Love’s a table, cards in hand,

A reckless bet, a silent stand.

Hearts are chips, we play, we spin,

The house decides who’ll lose or win.

A glance — a risk — a whispered call,

All or nothing — rise or fall.

Bluff with smiles, fold with sighs,

A winning hand or sweet disguise.

The wheel turns slow, a cruel embrace,

Luck’s a shadow, a fleeting face.

Kisses wagered, promises steep,

What we gamble, what we keep.

So place your bets, roll the die,

Love’s a game — don’t ask why.

For win or lose, the cards won’t care,

Just broken hearts left laid out bare.

It seems that in life everything is a gamble. Good job.

  • It's a game with high stakes, at that! Very poignant, Marie!
