The Fullness Of Time

Everything comes to an end

Needing to escape reality,

A book chosen at random,

An adventure or a holiday,

Distracting in our thoughts,

Getting me out of my head.

***

Whisking me to the stars,

Any imaginary new world,

Or a saunter in my locale,

An overseas walk-a-thon,

Possibly a future dream.

***

A fight with gory monsters,

As a King of the universe,

Maybe a forgotten romance,

Or even a fantasy promise,

Escaping pleasure beasts.

***

A long lost pet is found,

Bring an end to torment,

A roller coasters fast ride,

Stroll down a dirt track,

There’s no end in sight.

***

Nature, brilliant nature,

Dressed in autumn gold,

Rainbows to travel solo,

Glossing over the pain,

Leaving it all behind me.

***

A ride on a greyhound,

Full saddle on the side,

Scooped into a basket,

Flown up to the skies,

Anything is possible.

***

Morning, noon or night,

Winter, summer, spring,

Today, now or tomorrow,

Nightmares and dreams,

Imagination taking shape.

***

Reality escaped again,

Allowing time to heal,

A break from feelings,

Thoughts and pain,

Mission accomplished.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
