"light breaks water" challenge

His infant hands hover above the water,

Yearning to play and splash.

Light shines between his chubby fingers,

and I see it for a moment. His soul.

Clear as a pool and pure as sunbeams.

He blinks up at me, eyes dazzled,

And I let go just enough that he can reach.

He laughs and smacks the surface,

Showering us in drops of chilly water,

and the sunlight of a child's simple joy.
