The Fog That Does Not Leave

It’s has a mind of its own

The Fog That Does Not Leave

Some fog is seasonal, harmless,

This one stays even in sun.

It moves independently of wind,

Like it carries intention.

It twists around streets and alleys,

Filling them with patience and care.

Pedestrians pause, unsure why,

And their steps feel borrowed.

I enter and it resists,

Not with violence, only knowing.

Each breath becomes negotiation,

Each moment carefully considered.

When I leave, it remains behind,

Covering what was revealed.

I realise I have not walked through it,

It has walked around me, instead.

The fog that does not leave,

Is patient, unhurried, alive.

I am not trapped, not yet,

But it remembers every move I make.

Dear Marie - You are a marvelous writer; I've been following you forever. *I've subscribed with pleasure. I did read what you said about the lack of readership in Shout-Out. That saddens me, especially after scrolling through (7) columns of dribble from (1) writer within the 'Latest Stories' section. Please communicate with my BritBud Cj O'Hanlon @ VSS and tell her I asked you to. She may have some suggestions for you; such a nice person..! I'm not a poet like most - just a silly storyteller with my goofy sketches that lead into them. I wish that I could help more..! Best to you, Marie Jay Kantor, Chatsworth, California 'Senior' Vocal Author - Vocal Village Community
