I know you are with me, watching over me
I can feel you around me, in everything I do
I wonder if you approve of what I am doing
I wonder if I am letting you rest
Always talking about your death
However, I miss you so much
My heart aches as I think about what could have been
Could I have done more to prevent what happened
That is what haunts me the most
The court system let us down
Leaving you with no life at all
And me with a shell of a life
The lantern lights the way

I love to write in every venue. I am 75 years old and try to make every day count,. I am learning a great deal about poetry on Vocal, and I am glad to be here.

Sad but beautifully stated. I lost my mum thirty-five years ago, but she is still with me
Your thoughts flowed fluidly through this piece. I felt it. Sad, yet beautiful work, Susan!
