The first time you saw your own shadow

Poem

By Mr AddyPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

In the realm of light and dreams, where visions dance,

I tread upon a path, my heart entranced.

The topic at hand, a memory profound,

The first time I saw my shadow, profound.

A golden sunbeam cast upon the ground,

An ethereal glow, a spectacle found.

And there, amidst the luminescent rays,

Appeared a silhouette, my own self ablaze.

Oh, the wonder that filled my innocent eyes,

As I beheld this marvel, a sweet surprise.

A companion, inseparable and near,

A faithful follower, my shadow, so dear.

With each step I took, it mimicked my stride,

A dance of unity, side by side.

In playful games, we'd leap and twirl around,

A symphony of motion, forever bound.

Yet, as the sun descended, day turned to night,

My shadow vanished, concealed from sight.

A temporary absence, a fleeting loss,

But in my heart, its presence bore no cost.

For the shadow, dear friend, taught me a truth,

That light and darkness are eternally fused.

To know oneself, one must embrace the whole,

The light and shadow, together they console.

And so, as I reflect upon that first sight,

I find solace in knowing, with sheer delight,

That I am not defined by what's on display,

But by the depths within, where shadows play.
