The Fire Dies Out

Let your love be known

Our love used to be a blazing inferno.

I cry everyday since I let her go.

With nights at the movies and days at the park,

With strolls on the beach till long after dark.

I know that it’s crazy, A crying shame,

Our love was reduced to a candle flame.

Think I neglected to tell her I care.

We drifted apart ‘cause I wasn’t there.

My job and career, they got in the way.

I gave her great gifts so what could I say.

Saying “I love you” can go very far.

I never said it, now look where we are.

We never fought and We never bickered.

Yet love reduced to merely a flicker.

Now she’s in the arms of another man.

He walks on the beach while holding her hand.

All I can think is “That used to be me.”

My heart is aching from what used to be.

I’ll find love again; I have no real doubt.

With No Wood Added, The Fire Dies Out.
