The Fibro Curse

From a Warrior who knows.

By Paula RowlandsPublished about a year ago 2 min read

Fibromyalgia Strong (acrostic poem).

Fibromyalgia pain, unbearable at times Is only good for turning in to rhymes Bending is a problem with pain throughout Regular twitches and spasms of doubt Obnoxious frenemy causing woe Morning stiffness from head to toe Yawning constant every day Aggressive and hard to keep at bay Ligaments, tendons, muscles all sore Gastro tracts feeling poor Insomnia making for sleepless nights Anxiety, depression, memory fights

Swollen glands, shooting pain Temperature swings, damn migraine Ribs hurt, back aches, itchy skin Out of order, BUT not giving in Nerves all frazzled, Fibro is rough Gives us hell, BUT we are Tough.

Fibro Strong

It takes strength, day and night

to tolerate pain, the Fibro fight

the muscle aches, damn brain fog

total exhaustion, stiff as a log

headaches, sciatica, insomnia and more

tinnitus, vertigo, and stress galore

nerve pain and spasms, when does it end

this Fibromyalgia needs to mend

I don’t look sick, but my struggle is real

I’m quite often hot, when cold you feel

The ride never ends, but I am strong

Chronic pain is no joke, but I will go on.

Mind Games

Shooting stabbing pains aching muscles and bones cramping in the feet daily moans and groans

Stiffness every morning sleepless every night fatigued most the day but I put up a fight

This is just my frenemy trying to take hold she forgets I am a warrior my body will not fold

I tell her every day “Fibro – No you don’t I am busy – go away give in – No I won’t”

So the battle does continue with mind games every day some days worse than others but my humor leads the way.

Ms Fibro

She gets up with the intention of getting a whole lot done but the body decides otherwise when twists and plots are spun

Fibro writes the story the character has no say so all the good intentions have to wait another day

The path that she intended went off the beaten track the body took a dive there was no turning back

She devised a little plan to change the story line fed up with fibro dictating when she could feel fine

Ignoring all the symptoms and deciding to be boss she stood up too Ms Fibro and gave her plot the toss

The moral of the story ‘don’t let the Fibro win’ as hard as days may be you have the strength within

Draw on that Warrior spirit find things to make you smile change the written story and dream a little while.
