The Ferryman Takes Insurance
On Medical Care and Death
Around and around we go
Stuck in the endless cycle
Of the medical-industrial complex;
Referral after referral
Specialist after specialist
Treatment after treatment
No answers ever given;
Why?—we ask—Why you?
Why now? Why so fast? Why at all?
They don’t know
We don’t know
Forever in the dark—
Can we feel our way to the light?
No end in sight that we want to see
Fear wrapped up in anxiety
And grief for what is not quite lost;
How will this circus end—
In recovery or in loss?
At least the Ferryman takes your insurance
