The everyday warrior's bitter sweet revival

An ode to the ancient brew

By Katherine D. GrahamPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

A slightly burnt scent rises from an ancient brew.

Bitter ambrosia bites the tongue then sweet cream covers each aggravated bud with dew.

There is a sigh of relief as the addictive elixir flows.

A spirit escapes, and with a touch, mind and heart transpose.

Vision clears. The warrior revived joins a new day's thrum, ready and able to deal with what is to come.

The truth was revealed brilliantly. It's incredible what coffee, espresso, or a latte can do for one's disposition.

Your poem reminds me of how life's trials, though daunting, have a way of shaping us into stronger, more grounded individuals. The warrior's journey you described felt like a mirror of many of our own inner wars—fought quietly, with grace, despite the scars left behind. There’s something incredibly powerful in that message, a reminder that every step in the struggle is a step closer to revival.
