The Eve of the Season

Holiday Reflections

Snow falls gently down,

Melting as soon as it hits the concrete,

Not quite cold enough for it to stick,

But it will be soon,

It will be soon.

Some stores have Christmas trees shining brightly in their windows,

Not caring if it’s November or not,

While others have their holiday section front and center,

Ready for those wanting to get a head start on finding the perfect gift.

Smells of the season fill the air,

Pumpkin, peppermint, orange, and cranberry,

Either through breads, cakes, or cookies,

They will make their way into people’s homes,

Giving them great pleasure to their taste buds.

In between songs of joy, hope, and love,

People will smile and laugh with their families and friends,

Simply grateful to make it through another year,

Along with them.
